Tonyrefail translates as ‘The Sound of the Anvil’

Tonyrefail Ladies Choir was first established in September 1989 by Rosemarie Ashman, whose aim was to help charities and to bring enjoyment to the elderly, hospitals, churches etc. under her musical direction in the early days of the choir, we made our first attempt at competing at the prodigious Miner’s Eisteddfod at Porthcawl, which we won! In November 2010 the choir competed in the North Wales Choral festival and successfully attained second place.

In 2007 the choir received acclaim during their tour of Ireland which was highlighted by a memorable performance during a Catholic Mass in Kilarney Cathedral.

In 2009 the choir celebrated their 20th anniversary with a celebratory tour of Cannes, France. One of the concerts took place in the Holy Trinity Church in Cannes and there was also an open air concert in the market square where they were joined by a local choir for a joint finale.

We are available to sing at weddings or any event...
